  • The English as a Second Language (ESL) Instructor will be responsible for teaching one or more classes as part of the ESL program offered by Â鶹ÊÓƵ both on campus and at community sites. This includes assessing students and planning lessons in alignment with the Pennsylvania Department of Education curriculum and Â鶹ÊÓƵ.  The ideal candidate will have the ability to motivate and retain adult ESL learners, and must be able to communicate and collaborate effectively with outside agencies, students, and administrative staff.  The ESL Instructor is responsible to the Adult Basic Literacy Education (ABLE) Program Director and ESL Coordinator under the supervision of the Assistant to the Provost of Research and Sponsored Programs.

In addition to instructional classes, program professional development is mandatory for all staff. The Military and Veteran External Relations Specialist is a part-time role and will be responsible for identifying, assisting with recruiting, and supporting military and veteran affiliates interested in pursuing their education at Â鶹ÊÓƵ. Responsibilities

1.  Recruitment and Outreach:

  • Partner with Admissions to learn the recruitment process and ensure goals and strategies align with the overall recruitment goals.
  • Develop and implement strategies to reach out to military veterans and active-duty service members and their families.
  • Organize and participate in recruitment events, job fairs, and informational sessions targeted at veterans.

2.  Advising and Support:

    • Provide personalized guidance to veterans on selecting appropriate college programs and understanding the application process.
    • Assist with the completion of application forms, financial aid documents, and scholarship applications.

    3.  Liaison with Military and Veteran Organizations:

      • Build and maintain relationships with military and veteran organizations in the community to facilitate collaboration and referral of prospective students.

      4.  Program Development:

        • Develop programs and workshops tailored to the needs of veteran students, such as transition assistance, academic advising, and career planning.

            Summary of Duties

            The International Student Activity Coordinator is a part-time position within the Office of Global Education. This position provides administrative and logistical support to the office with close direction from the Associate Provost for Global Education; will coordinates travel arrangements for student-related field trips and site visits in accordance with College policies and procedures; will assist in the coordination of student housing, and orientations; plan program events/trips; assist students as needed; support departmental staff members.

            Educational Requirements

            • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution of higher education in a related field is required.
            • Master's degree in an area such as intercultural communication, foreign languages, education, international higher education, international relations, global studies or related fields is preferred.

            Work Experience Requirements

            • Two (2) years' experience working in international education, student services, academic advising, international engagement or a related field is required.
            • Experience in higher education and/or cross-cultural programming, advising, or counseling is preferred.
            • Knowledge of international educational systems and credentials is preferred.
            • Fluency in English with proficiency in additional languages is preferred.

            Essential Elements

            • As a direct report to the Associate Provost for Global Education, this position will assist in related tasks and is supportive of all responsibilities in this area
            • Coordinates all logistical needs of the programs, including, but not limited to, student housing arrangements, all details of transportation, and scheduling of classroom space
            • Coordinates all events scheduled for global programs including, but not limited to, international delegation visits, coordinating meeting schedules, preparing presentation materials, scheduling space, making necessary arrangements for facilities and catering, and all other details to ensure the success of each event
            • Coordinates activities and schedule events after appropriate planning and development and determines appropriate campus facilities for programs and reserves rooms and facilities for use
            • Supervise and evaluate all student activity events and confers frequently with supervisor on student activity matters
            • Maintains orderly and updated file documentation for international students
            • Receives, registers, and orients new and potential international students as needed
            • Assists in developing new contracts for internships and marketing
            • Works cooperatively with all other staff members, including program instructors, to maximize the short and long-term success of the programs
            • Assists with the design of new programs, services, or concepts
            • Drives department vehicles for students' off-campus activities, field trips, and site visits
            • Provides students, clients, partners, and co-workers with the highest level of service excellence and professionalism to enhance retention and provide growth for the department

                The Adult Basic Literacy Education Instructors will be responsible for teaching one or more classes as part of the ABLE program offered at Â鶹ÊÓƵ. This includes assessing students, remote and face-to-face instruction, and planning lessons in alignment with the ABLE curriculum. The ideal candidate will have the ability to motivate and retain learners and must be able to communicate and collaborate effectively with outside agencies, students, and administrative staff. The ABLE Instructor is responsible for the Adult Basic Literacy Education (ABLE) Program Director and the ABLE Coordinators. The instructor will teach adult learners in a variety of content areas.


                Required Qualifications:
