Sandra Pesavento, Ed.D. brings a wealth of experience and a passion for integrating technology into education. As a proud alumna of Â鶹ÊÓƵ, she began her academic journey by earning a Bachelor’s degree in Education, which laid the groundwork for her lifelong dedication to teaching and learning. Her thirst for knowledge led her to Wilkes University, where she pursued a Master of Science in Education with a focus on Instructional Technology, followed by an Instructional Technology Certification. In 2017, she capped her educational pursuits with a Doctor of Education (Ed.D.) in Educational Leadership from Wilkes, driven by her commitment to leading the way in modern education.

Throughout her career, Dr. Pesavento has focused on the power of technology to transform traditional teaching methods and enrich learning experiences. Her approach is grounded in the belief that technology is not merely about staying up to date with trends but about creating deeper, more meaningful engagement with students.

“Technology has the potential to make learning more accessible and interactive,” she explains. “It’s about using the right tools to enhance education and help students connect with the material in ways that resonate with them.”

This philosophy shines through in her innovative teaching methods. One of her favorite projects is a virtual collaboration by which Â鶹ÊÓƵ students interact with K-12 students across the globe. The exercise, which challenges students to guess each other's locations using yes-or-no questions, has become a favorite for Dr. Pesavento.

“It’s amazing how often the elementary students outperform the college students,” she laughs. The activity not only teaches geography, but also demonstrates how technology can breathe new life into traditional subjects, making them more interactive and fun.

Dr. Pesavento’s own life experiences also have shaped her empathetic approach to education. Married and a mother at the age of 18, she understands the complexities her students face, especially when balancing education with personal challenges.

“My path took a lot of grit and hard work,” she says. “That’s why I approach my students with compassion. Life can get in the way, but with determination and setting clear goals, you can achieve anything.” This philosophy of understanding, combined with her passion for innovation, has made her a beloved educator among both students and peers.

Her contributions to instructional technology extend beyond the classroom. Dr. Pesavento has been instrumental in designing and implementing cutting-edge programs that prepare students for success in the ever-evolving digital world. Her work helps bridge the gap between traditional education and modern technological tools, ensuring that her students are equipped with both the knowledge and the adaptability to thrive in a rapidly changing workforce.

“My goal is to make learning dynamic and interactive,” she explains. “The tools we use may change over time, but the skills and adaptability students develop are what will help them succeed.”

In her role, she emphasizes that while technology is essential, it’s the mindset that truly matters. "The tools we teach today might be obsolete by the time my freshmen are in the workforce," she notes. "What’s more important is teaching them to be adaptable and goal-oriented, using whatever tools are available to meet their objectives."

Her hands-on approach, combined with real-world applications, ensures that her students are not just passive learners but active participants in their education.

Dr. Pesavento’s dedication to educational excellence and innovation has earned her recognition throughout her career. She continues to foster an environment of collaboration, pushing the boundaries of traditional education while maintaining a focus on empathy, lifelong learning, and adaptability. Whether she’s teaching in the classroom or working in leadership roles, Dr. Pesavento remains committed to enhancing the educational landscape for both students and educators alike. Her belief in the transformative power of technology, paired with her compassionate teaching style, makes her a leader in instructional technology and an inspiration to her students.
